LIFE RULES FOR SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS

In life, there are rules: restrictions in sport games, driving regulations on the road, religions practices to abide by, everyday law and order for the safety and smooth functioning of community.

Some people like to have rules to follow, they feel safe knowing exact boundaries, they obey the rules and can be very judgmental of those who don’t obey the rules.

And other people do not like rules (especially teenagers!)  This phase of life is a time for individuals to push and test everyone and everything around them.  It can be really difficult to hear a young adult answer back, question authority or adopt a selfish attitude.  However, during this period of life we all prepare to spread our wings. It is a time of growth and important to let this stage take its course.

People who do not have the opportunity to develop fully and with confidence during their teenage years can find adulthood very difficult. They may still display childish behaviour in their 40s because they’ve never fully grown up.  It is imperative that we are all allowed time to discover our own true identity at some point in life and better in our teens when people expect us to be obnoxious, rather than later in life when it can have a detrimental affect on our family and career.

As a life coach I talk with women who feel frustrated with life and I also talk to a lot of successful women. Over the years I’ve compiled a small list of life rules that work. I’ve learned these rules through my own experiences and from watching others find happiness in life.

ACCEPT THAT EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT VIEW OF THE WORLD.

No two people see the world the same.  Accept that it’s ok to disagree.  Stop trying to convince others that your way is the right way or the only way.

RESPECT OTHERS EVEN IF THEIR VALUES DIFFER TO YOURS.

Everything is not black or white.  Try to see that others are not either right or wrong, they are just different and that’s ok.

PEOPLE ARE NOT THEIR BEHAVIOUR

Good people can sometimes have bad behaviour. Triggers and frustrations can cause us to act in a negative way. Learning how to change this behaviour and deal with these negative triggers is vital for success and success.

EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE IS CREATED WITH A POSITIVE INTENTION.

I truly believe that people begin every action with the best intention.  Things may  get in the way and change the outcome, but it’s helpful to try to see the positive idea behind the result.

EVERYONE IS DOING THE BEST THEY CAN WITH WHAT THEY HAVE.

It’s easy for us to judge from a distance, but we don’t always know what is going on for someone else in their home, their work or their head.  Let’s cut one another some slack.

THERE ARE NO UNRESOURCEFUL PEOPLE; ONLY UNRESOURCEFUL STATES OF MIND.

It’s not that we can’t do something, it’s that we THINK we can’t do something that causes frustration.  That’s why we need to just do it anyway!

EVERYONE HAS THE RESOURCES WITHIN THEM TO SUCCEED IN LIFE.

Once you believe that you have the resources within you to succeed, you can make anything happen. A little plan, followed by daily action and the encouragement of a Coach, means anything is possible. But if you don’t believe you have the capability you will cause yourself to fail.

THERE IS NO FAILURE – ONLY FEEDBACK.

Allow yourself and others to fail and learn from each experience.  Be open to feedback and growth will follow.

PEOPLE WITH THE MOST FLEXIBLE OUTLOOK HAVE THE GREATEST INFLUENCE IN LIFE.

Bend with the wind. Be open to hearing the ideas of others, you don’t have to agree but at least be open to listening. You might surprise yourself.  Stiff branches on a tree break and fall to the ground.  It’s freeing to let go a little.

THE MEANING OF COMMUNICATION IS THE RESPONSE YOU GET.

The reaction we get from people is as much our responsibility as theirs! If someone reacts negatively towards you, question why.  If someone doesn’t understand you, question why.
