Every New Year offers us the opportunity to reflect on the past, to learn from it, make changes and grow. As we move forward, the saying, ‘out with the old and in with the new’ comes to mind. It’s a chance for us to have a fresh start.
As you reflect on the past year, and you might consider asking yourself the following questions:
- What did I accomplish this past year?
- What did I enjoy doing the most?
- What challenges did I face, and how did I handle them?
- What did I learn about myself during the past 12 months?
These answers can help you identify areas of your life that you would like to improve or change and give you a sense of direction and purpose as you move into the New Year.
With this list of what you accomplished and learned during the past year, use this information to set goals for the coming year. Some goals might be related to personal growth, learning a new skill, or improving your physical health. Others might concern your career, finding a new job or improving your communication with colleagues.
Break your goals down:
Break your goals down into smaller, more manageable tasks, and set realistic deadlines. To help you stay motivated and on track, keep a note of your progress and remember to celebrate your achievements, no matter how small.
Be kind to yourself:
Be kind to yourself as you work towards your goals. It’s okay to make mistakes and expect to face setbacks along the way. The important thing is to keep trying and be willing to learn from all experiences.
